Mr.Memo Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-07 / Developer: Beachside Studio
Introduction
Mr.Memo ("the App") is a notepad application provided by Beachside Studio ("we"). This policy describes
how the App handles information and how we protect it.
1. How Your Notes and Inputs Are Handled
All data you create or input within the App—notes, titles, tags, folder names, color labels, etc.—is
stored only in a SQLite database on your device.
- This data is never transmitted to external servers
- We (Beachside Studio) cannot access this data
- It is not shared with any third parties, including advertisers
2. Backup Function
The App's backup feature creates an encrypted file (extension .mrmemo) on your device.
- Encryption: AES-256-CBC + HMAC-SHA256 (Encrypt-then-MAC)
- Key derivation: PBKDF2-SHA256 (15,000 iterations)
- The backup cannot be restored without your password
- Backup files are passed via the system share sheet to a destination of your choice (Gmail, Google Drive, local storage, etc.)
- We never automatically upload backups to the cloud
3. About Ads
The App is offered free of charge and is supported by advertising through Google AdMob.
3.1 Ad Placement
- A banner ad is shown below the header on the notes list screen
- One full-screen interstitial ad is shown every five new notes you create
- No ads are shown on the editor, settings, favorites, folders, or other screens
3.2 Information Collected by AdMob
For ad delivery, Google AdMob may collect:
- Advertising ID (GAID / Google Advertising ID)
- App Set ID (Android 12 and later)
- Approximate location estimated from IP address (country level)
- Device type, OS version, screen size
- Ad impressions, clicks, and other interactions
This information is sent to Google's advertising network and is not shared with us. Google's
handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
3.3 Boundary Between Note Content and Ads
The notes, titles, tags, and other content you input into the App are never shared with the ad
system (including Google AdMob). The codebase clearly separates the notes feature from the ads
feature.
3.4 Consent Management (EU, UK, Switzerland)
Users in the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland will see a Google User Messaging Platform (IAB TCF v2.2)
consent dialog on first launch. Personalized or non-personalized ads will be shown based on your
consent.
3.5 Default and User Control
- The App defaults to non-personalized ads (ads without behavioral tracking)
- You can review or change consent anytime from "Settings / About / Ad privacy options"
- You can also reset your advertising ID via your device's Google settings
4. Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect any of the following (the corresponding hardware permissions are not even requested):
- Camera, microphone, photo library access
- Contacts, call history, SMS
- GPS or precise location (excluding the IP-based country estimation by AdMob)
- Google account information
- Independent usage analytics or crash reports (Firebase Analytics / Sentry / Crashlytics are not integrated)
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- App data is retained on your device until you uninstall the App or delete it via in-app features
- We do not store any data on our servers
- For data sent to Google via AdMob, follow Google Play's data deletion procedures
6. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. Due to the nature of AdMob
advertising, it is not designed for children (COPPA-covered users).
7. Policy Changes
This policy may be revised due to feature additions or legal changes. The "Last updated" date at
the top will be updated to reflect any significant changes.
8. In-App Purchases
The App offers an optional one-time purchase to remove advertisements ("Mr.Memo Premium"):
- Product: Mr.Memo Premium (One-time purchase, $2.99 USD)
- Effect: All advertising is permanently disabled within the App
8.1 Purchase Processing
- Purchases are processed exclusively through Google Play Billing
- Beachside Studio does NOT receive or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.)
- Only a purchase status flag (premium / non-premium) is stored locally on your device
8.2 Purchase Restoration
- You can restore previous purchases on the same Google account
- This requires the App to communicate with Google Play services to verify your purchase history
- No personal information beyond the purchase verification is exchanged
